The Cornea is the Clear Lens in the front of the eye which acts as the first of the two focussing systems to bring Images to a pin sharp focus on the retina. ( The second is the Lens). it lies right in front so is subject to injury as well as the normal ageing and degenerative processes that all tissues are subject to.

Because it is so sensitive and so important for accurate vision, it becomes all the more important to be able to assess disease trauma and degeneration with absolute unforgiving accuracy.

Our Clinic uses the Anterion Swept Source Anterior Segment OCT to provide us with a detailed accurate view and image of the Cornea. The Anterion scans the Cornea 50,000 times a second and produces a detailed three dimensional image of the cornea and is possibly one of the most accurate systems in the world to screen for Keratoconus (https://www.aao.org/eye-health/diseases/what-is-keratoconus )
